Álvaro Villamizar was part of the mobile brigade No. 5 in Tame (Arauca), where he carried out destruction operations. On August 9, 2003, he was carrying out several operations in the Cabuya sector, in the neighborhood of San Jorge Sabanas de Curipao Corocitos, in Puerto Rondón. Villamizar knew the news that the guerrilla would be present at the site and was sent to register Motorized, when it was ambushed by the Front 28 of the FARC. After the match, Villamizar was injured with a shot that struck the armored plate of his body armor vest by Miguel Caballero. The attack left him with a fracture injury of the L3 vertebra.
